Default Need advice on what to do

I bought an exhaust from member xcatangelx on Saturday, October 11th. He PMd me that night saying that he would ship it out first thing Monday (Oct. 13) morning. Well a couple days go by and I haven't heard anything from him, so I sent him a PM just checking to see if he was able to ship it out. This goes on for about 2 weeks (me PMing/e-mailing him with no response). During this 2 week period I see that other people have bought his exhaust, but he was refunding their money (which tells me that he was still monitoring s2ki). So I filed a dispute through PayPal on Oct. 28th, and I received a message from them on Nov. 10 saying that he is sending me a refund. I then receive a message saying that his refund failed. So I e-mailed him letting him know that the refund failed and asked him if he could send it again. No response. I have e-mailed him numerous times since then, and all have failed to generate a response or my money.

Is there anything I can do?

edit: I used my back account to pay (not a credit card).

I think I talked to you last month, but I paid for that same exhaust too. He then wrote me an email back saying

"my exhaust n intake got stolen last weekend..my lil brother was to scare to tell me..n i just got home today to c if he ship..im very sorry for everything..please close the dispute n i refunded full amount back..again sorry man.."

I had opened a paypal dispute with him and he refunded me the money. Everything seemed kindof off with that guy. Good luck getting your money back.

First thing you need to do is advise PayPal that his refund bounced.

This is why I will never deal with PayPal.
Does anybody have good things to say about them?

I've had good luck with paypal getting my money back when the deal was not as advertised or product didn't arrive. You need to let paypal know that you haven't gotten the refund. Always use a credit card for a second level of dispute resolution instead of allowing your bank account to be accessed.

tell your BANK. they should be able to get your money back for you. explain to them what happened, maybe bring in your receipts from paypal saying you paid, etc.

Foxy: I hate PayPal's customer service. I cannot get throught to them to save my life. I have tried a couple times to email or call them, but it doesn't work either time.

I will call my bank tomorrow to see what they can do, though I was under the impression they couldn't do much, but we will see.

Did you buy from the ebay ad or from the S2KI posting?

Somehow (maybe I'm naive) but I find it hard to believe you couldn't contact paypal by phone. I know they make it a little difficult but I understand why (every nitwit with a $12.00 issue would be calling -- that hardly supports a toll free number). You know you need to log in, they give you a pin number (good for an hour), and then you have to call a long distance number between certain hours (reasonable). You have to go to the paypal site and click "contact us". What happened when you did that?

BTW, do you find it a little odd that the guy is posting in the Houston forums but says he is in Ft. Worth? Why wouldn't he be posting in the North Texas forums?

Did you call him? Do you know his name and phone number? Who vouched for him in the local forum for you? Do they know him there?

Hmm... People like xcatangelx make it seem like a bad idea to purchase anything off the internet from people you can't see (as in, people who live just a few hours or so away).
