Got it, thanks NBob. Good luck. I think this is a fine example of the S and you will be happy owning and driving it. I have to add driving it as this car was surely engineered for driving by people who know and love what it really is to "drive"...

Thanks. Still mulling it over. This would be my second S2000 if I do this, I had a 2002 (AP1) for almost eight years, so I remember how fun it is to drive.

Here's a side picture of the car. Looks good from six feet. Those rotors...looks like the car has been sitting for a long time, but the inspector says that the rust came off with braking. Still in negotiations. I will get it resolve this one way or another this weekend, trying not to get emotionally invested in purchase, which is why I posted here. If folks thought it was a hunk of junk, I'd drop it. Seems not to be. I'd take care of it a lot better than it has been, that's for sure.... (Hood is partially popped open in this pic, don't worry, it's not a defect...)

Thanks for all the comments so far.

The brake rotors will "clean up" in a few miles of driving but may require replacement if the rust is too thick. My daughters Explorer sat for almost 6 months while she was studying in the UK and the rotors looked like that and cleaned up but eventually needed a complete brake replacement all around. This was in Brecksville -- darn, must have been 9 or 10 years ago -- time flies!

Wait, I remember you, or at least your posts...you moved away from Cleveland?

In any case, we'll see what happens with the rotors. Luckily, S2000 parts (including rotors) are MUCH cheaper and more easily sourced than NSX parts. Sigh, #NSXtax . Not to mention, this vintage of S2000 is reasonably simple to work on.

Looks good to me.
I'd replace rotors and pads anyways - it's a wear item either way - wouldn't even think twice about it.
Most used cars will have curbed wheels. Those can be refinished easily...
Underside looks great for an 18 year old car! Crazy how old these cars are getting! And holding up so well!
Dent will pop out.
Roof looks good - no tears?
Seats OK? That is one thing I look at - the drivers seat condition... I passed on a few of these that had rough condition seats.
Steering wheel? Those get worn out... but easily replaced or refurbished. Wouldn't be a deal breaker for me.
Go for it! Price seems reasonable too! I wouldn't squabble over a couple grand on a nice S2000...

Yes, I agree. Looks really good for an 2002-2003 car.

Thanks, guys. This S2000 should be in my driveway soon. Once I fix up the cosmetic stuff and change all the fluids, my plan is a modest build. Exhaust, duckbill spoiler, maybe Mugen style hardtop, and just drive it. With low miles, it should maintain or increase in value for a little while, like my NSX.

In this market, $32k IS pretty reasonable for low miles. Just wanted to be sure it wasn’t too good to be true.
