You are going to take a big hit on price selling it as it sits. Restoring it and selling it will net you the best return.

Personally, I wouldn't look twice at any car without seats and a steering wheel and certainly not a car with an odd wheel or seat from another car (I'd also have reservations about a car with aftermarket upgrades, but for different reasons.).

I wouldn't try a CRX wheel. Even if it bolts up, those things are the size of hula hoops because they didn't have power steering.

Instead of putting parts in if you really don't want to put in the right parts, just put a condition on the sell that you will pay the small price (under $100) for a u-haul trailer to tow the car to the buyers place.

Krenath:

even if i needed to drill new holes in the seat, to bolt down
I said, as quoted, drill the seat. Who would drill a hole in thier car?

00CivicSi:

Thanks for your opinion on what you would and wouldnt look at, but I dont see how that adds value to this thread or issue. Others will gladly look at it, especially given how well it was maintained and now the reduced cost of ownership for an s2000.

The "hit" I would take repairing it with used parts from a shop, is more then $1000. I dont have a place to keep the car for a prolonged period of time that is garaged, and am positive thieves would return to get the replacement parts if the car was left at my house.

sireousrex:

The wheel would be used for a 1.5 mile trip to my sisters house, how it looks isnt concerning me as much as getting this thing garaged and safe while i sell it.

AssassinJN: I am going to help the buyer as much as possible. If they ship it, I will help them organize it. If they want to pick it up, I will install parts they purchase to make it driveable. If they want to buy it at this good price, a $100 expenditure on thier part for a trailer would be reasonable.

Well, I dont mind the hit in selling it as it sits because I really have no means to store it and use, and for me, just as the owner, I wouldnt repair it to sell it, i love the thing, I wouldnt be able to sell it, which of course, isnt realistic, because then thieves would just take the damn thing again.
how much do u plan selling it for ? ... any pictures?

I figure insurance would cover all of the costs for repair?

Sell it in repaired condition, close the sale when the repair shop calls you to tell you it's done...then you don't have to worry over safe storage.

Rup: Why would I spend the insurance settlement money on the car to repair it at top dollar with new parts, only to sell the thing?

Financially it makes the most sense to sell it as it is, which at 8k is a tremendous value given the market, the addition of the mint hardtop, and the favorable title condition.

Furthermore, unless it has to be done in a shop, I do things myself, it saves a significant amount of money, ensures the job is done in a way that you trust/can rely on, and is personally rewarding.

I guess if you can find a buyer in the state that the car is in, for the money you want, and the dollars make sense, no problem.

I think other folks were thinking if you had it repaired, you would have a much larger market of potential buyers (bigger market, more demand, more money, higher return to you personally).

Good luck and sorry to hear you got victimized.

Well the deal is pretty good, I have done alot of research, even have seen a salvaged rolled 2002 s2000 go for $8101 on ebay just 2 days ago. PMs from certian people on this site have confirmed that it is a good (even great) deal, even shipped across the country.

The market of people looking for a car that was once victim of theft and now repaired is equal or lesser then the market of people who want a car that was victim of theft and want to repair it themselves, knowing the job was done right, and the total extent of the repair. If anything, leaving it how it sits probably quells some potential doubts a buyer might have.
