Default need help removing glue from under windshield tape

hey all,

i just removed the windshield tape off of my spa s2000.. looks great, no scratches or anything underneath the tape, but removing the tape was one serious pita. i have glue over the entire length of the windshield where the tape used to be! i picked up some goo gone and it doesnt really work. all it does is make the glue maliable and then i have to use my fingernail to scrape and scratch off the glue. it took me almost an hour to do a 1' long section! my fingernails started killing me so i had to stop.. anyone try anything else to remove the gunk?? what about goof off? i saw it at home depot while purchasing the goo gone but i thought it may be just a bit too strong for the paint to handle.. anyone try this stuff on paint?

one foot down, about 5 feet to go..

I used goo gone, but there seemed to be a little trick. Just squirt a large area quite heavily with goo gone and let it sit for about 5 minutes. Then with a towel, rub over it. It seemed to come right off then after the goo gone set in.

on the directions of goo gone it says not to get it on any plastic, rubber, vinyl.. the trim surrounding the windshield is made out of rubber.. any problems with the goo gone on the rubber? discoloring, cracking, etc? what about the top seal? thats made out of rubber as well..

i was very careful not to get any of the solvent on the rubber pieces.. perhaps i should just forget the warning and drown the frame in goo gone

thanks

Try "Bug and Tar Remover".... Can be purchased at your local autostores... (Autozone definately has it, so does Pepboys).

Brian, this is off-topic, but I am going to post it here anyway . Was that your yellow stook that I saw at Edgewater Commons this past Saturday night, 12/1/01, around 7 pm ? It was parked between Target and Outback. It caught my attention (and not just because of the eye-grabbing yellow) because I noticed the windshield tape was removed also.

You gotta let the goo gone soak in! Use a cotton swab and dab the leftover glue and let it sit for a couple of minutes. This way you won't have too much goo gone all over the rubber guards. The glue should roll off with no problems. Hope this helps.
