It doesnt make a difference to the seller... he is only dealing with 1 person -- the dealership.

Its nothing, I dont understand why some of you are so scared. Jesus people... get out of your shell's, and think logically.

What could possibly happen? He brings the car, the dealership writes him a check-- it can even be a cashiers check. You bring that check to the bank its written off, and immediately cash it... if you're so worried.

Stooken said: Only reason why I'm considering this is because this buyer is willing to pay a lot more for the car than any other offers I've received.

Then why would this even matter, and what is the $300 fee all about?

If I sold the car to a used car dealer, which I wouldn't because I would get WAY LESS than if I sold it directly to a private party. But if I did, then yes, I'd be done then the other guy would buy it from the dealer.

But why would the dealer assume that the other party is going to buy the car?

Sure I guess they could have it in writing before hand, but it just seems like a backwards ass way to do business, with no forseeable tangible gain for anyone, but the dealer?

Occam's razor man.

There's actually a pretty simple reason to do it this way. It's called money laundering. Can't say that this is the reason but it would be on my short list of reasons.
