Need help on selling my S2k
I have a 01 S2000 that I don't really want to get rid of but I'm getting married and we want to start a family. So the fiance wants me to get a bigger car. Anyway, my roof is in bad condition with the plastic window cracked. Would it be worth it for me to fix it or sell it as is. I'm already forking over about 1500 on a new transmission which I had no choice.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Absolutely don't get rid of it. Once she's pregnant, you'll have nine months to buy a family car, but no man (or woman) should sell a sports car to make room for a family sedan. That's just sick.
You don't even have a kid on the way yet, and besides, what kind of car does she have? If its a matter of you needing a car to transport a kid around, start saving up for a used sedan.

LOL....man I use to think the same thing. But when you're in the situation it's different. There are other reasons for selling it.
The price??? I haven't decided yet. It has 74k miles, never touched as far as modifications go. I always did the maintenance and oil changes. It has a nice Stereo system in it along with a Viper 791xv alarm. It's in good condition. I'm thinking $15k.

Nooo don't sell it.
And if you are selling it, don't fix the top. Cars are often very different from houses, in that you can't do a couple fixes or upgrades and expect to increase the value beyond the cost to repair it.

I'd think with 74,000 miles, it would be difficult to sell for $15,000.
Everyone once in awhile I price out mine, just to establish it's monetary value. It didn't seem it would go for much more than $16,000... and there is quite a deal of money in my car, and it only has a nudge over 30,000 miles.
I briefly had considered something newer/faster... then (particullarly when I realized its value) I remembered my plan to keep the car until the wheels fall off. In my opinion, for the minor money you will get from the sale of this car, save up over the next nine months, and buy a decent beater sedan.

You'd be lucky to get $12k. Nobody wants the S2000 with the plastic top AND 75,000 miles.
Just keep the car.
Refinace if you want to save some money. Your payments would be in the two hunderd range. That's basically painless.

From what I've been seeing around where I live, I could get around 15k. When you say you put money into your car, I'm guessing performance wise which would not raise the value of the car. I would rather have a car never touched and do it myself. I don't know if the person installed the parts right. I don't know if the car has been beat to death. Etc...That's just me though.
