Default Need help with a top problem.

I lowered my top today. Just before it was fully down, I heard a loud noise and it stopped. I pulled on the lever again and it fully retracted. When I raised the top, there was a nasty L-shaped tear in my top just behind the right side striker housing. Something in the mechanical top lowering action into the well caught and ripped the top. Anybody else experience this? I want Honda to cover this under warranty.

Have you thought about a hardtop? After my soft top tore, I went hardtop and never look back, no more soft top issues, cause I go hardtop all year round. Best investment I've spent on the car, other than the SC

What year is your car?

Did you close the latches before lowering the top like the owners' manual instructs?

Same thing happened to me. The first support rib for the top doesn't get pulled back correctly by the elastic strap. The rib stays forward as you lower the top and the latch rips through the top. I had the top replaced 100% by the warranty. Now I use my hand to make sure the rib collapses backward properly while lowering the top.
