Default Need lowering springs help!

First off, let me start by saying, I know NOTHING about lowing my car and that is why I didn't search this first. I don't know the first thing about it or even what to look for... Also, please move this topic into the correct forum if I'm in the wrong area...

I need help choosing springs to lower and have some questions...

1.) What brand?(I auto-x alot and don't want to lose stiffness)

2.) What do I look for when buying springs?

3.) Do I have to buy new shocks when I buy springs?

4.) What is the common drop height for an S2000?

I'll add as I think of more, but thank you guys for your help. I don't even know where to look for this kind of info or if this is even the right sub-forum.

1.) What brand??
RS*R, Tanabe, TEIN... etc., it doesn't really matter! Even they all have a minor different specification. But hey, lowering spring is just for LOOK, don't even think about any performance gain, I do have TEIN S. Tech lowering springs, but my OEM springs will make me feel more safer on high speed street race (because more stiff).

2.) What do I look for when buying springs??
watch out the counterfeit stuff

3.) Do I have to buy new shocks when I buy springs??
no, still using the original shock, but God know how long can last..

4.) What is the common drop height for an S2000?
about one inch (which is perfect )

If you're looking to improve your performance in auto-x, you really might want to invest in a set of coilovers so you can adjust them to your liking. Most people who run springs on stock shocks are just doing it more for the look (to get rid of wheel gap) than for performance purposes. You can get springs that lower your car anywhere from less than 1" to more than 2". If you're in to the slammed look, you obviously want to go with more of a drop... but realize that your ride quality is going to suffer, and your stock shocks will have more stress and wear out faster. I think around a 1" drop looks great, but different people have different opinions.

Some of the more popular brands of springs are the Eibach Pro-Kit, Tein S-Tech, and Espelier. But there are several other brands out there that offer various drops. You're going to want to make sure your spring is a progressive one (most are). Other than that, it's really up to you on how much of a drop do you want.

K, well now my new main problem... If I'm not looking to gain any performance from from these are they going to hinder what I have now.

I.E. If I put springs on will my auto-x times drop and my handling go to hell?

Assuming you been doing some tracking before, any instructor would tell you to bring the stock car and drive first before buying suspension mod.

driving style and type of course can alter dramatically and so it the choice of modification.

it just seems very unwise for me that you are doing the modifciation without knowing what's you like/hate.

the S is very balance even in stock form, it's not like a civic which have more body roll than a fishing boat in a storm.

lowering spring would put a tad more firmer response, increase more body roll and increase cornering stability because the negative camber.

but wait! you could achieve the last two just be doing a more aggressive alignment.

Like most of the guys before me said, don't expect alot of difference with the springs

Ok here is my issue:

1)I'm NOT looking for BETTER performance I'm looking for equal performance.

2)I already have the UK spec alignment, so that itself is aggresive.

3) Do I have to get my shocks changed? I have 47,000 miles on them currently.

I just want the car dropped without losing handling. I don't care about ride quality.
