ok..i'm an idiot.. someone explain the gears thing to me..

the car seems geared high in sixth.. like i need one or 2 more..
my vette in sixth.. turns 1750rpms at 75mph and gets 30mpg on a trip..

the s turns almost 4k rpms at same speed.. yes ..i know the little engine works harder.

when you guys change gears.. are you gearing up 3rd and 4th ? or all of them..

just curious.

It's referring to the final drive gear. You'd be turning a few extra RPMs in addition to what you're mentioning here.

yes and no. the throttle is barely open at those speeds, and you can still get 30mpg AND have the top gear response, which is something the vette is lacking in due to the very tall gear.

The Vette is not lacking in top gear response.....its called Torque

very true..
on a long uphill grade.. "hey..i live in west virginia"
i rarely have to upshift..
plenty of grunt to go around.... the s is still as much fun.. just gotta keep her wound up..
and top down makes up for the lack of TQ.

If you don't want to rev higher and you want more performance, you'll need a Comptech or Vortech SC, or even an InlinePRO turbo.
