you should use the search button ,

cdv is basically a delay valve that makes the clutch slip to protect the rear dif. ( so it doesn't blow) only when you shift fast ap2 and later ap1's have it

Ap1's do not have a delay valve. Ap2's do have one as well as a heavier flywheel. If you are replacing your clutch for your situation it sounds like OEM will be just fine. Here are the things you would need:

Flywheel
Friction Disc
Pressure Plate
Throwout Bearing

If you have an AP2 you can go with the heavier flywheel for an extra 10$. Also I would have the delay valve removed as it annoys me driving my gf's car. You can do some reading on here using the search function to get some more info.

I believe the last part you said is a sign of the clutch slipping. If you are letting off the clutch and it doesn't engage until its near the top then yes you should probably replace the clutch. I am not super familiar in all of this but it sounds like a clutch replacement is in order.

Being that the 02 and 03 are basically the same car they don't have CDV's. They only exist on the AP2's as they were added in 04.

It's been long since confirmed on these boards that some of the late '03s (AP1s) received slave cylinders with the CDV during production. Therefore, some AP1s do in fact have CDVs.
