Default Need Sticky Goo

I pulled my door panels and then door seals off of my 2K and am getting ready to reassemble.

The Door Seals are basically just big sheets of plastic that drape over the bare metal door to keep out drafts and what not. The border of adhesive that runs around the outside of the door is no longer use-able I need to lay down some new adhesive.

I do NOT want to use something like silicone that is permanent in nature and want something like the original gooey putty like stuff that was on there from the factory.

Anyone have any suggestions?

thanks!

Maybe the caulk used to seal windows may work. It comes in a rope. You can cut it any length and shape it in any way. It also easy to remove.

3M Strip Calk would probably work. It is alot stickier than window sealing caulk.

I use a product called "Shoe Goo". It is not permanent, but it is plenty sticky. If you change your mind, you will have a removal challenge, but it is not impossible. It goes on as a VERY VISCOUS liquid out of a tube and hardens into a firm silicone-like substance. It is also, as the name implies, good for shoes, hence its durability.

Not something I would use for things I want to change frequently, but pretty good for semi-permanent attachment.

Found it!

Its called Butyl Tape. There was a windshield installed almost across the street from me that sold me a roll. You can also buy it on Amazon. Basically the same stuff that is used for the vapor barrier in the door.

VERY sticky
