Needed insight from S2k owners
Hey guys, I've been thinking of getting an S for awhile and I believe I can finally afford it now. I'm looking at this one:
http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/ida/vdet...ar_id=178510153
There have been 2 previous owners and the dealership purchased this car at auction. Clean carfax. There is no way for me to speak to previous owner(s). I've heard horror stories about the tops of these cars getting holes..and not covered by the warranty. It looks pretty clean, but is pretty far away from where I live so I thought I'd get an educated opinion before I drove 200 miles to see it.
Thanks.

22k... I'd pass.
I just got my MY00 s2k with low mileage (44k) has been garaged for all 5 years of its' existence, and has every receipt and record of the car ever being in a shop. It was owned by a retired man who bought a porsche, is in perfect working condition and pulls HARD. Oh, I got it for only $16,800
Look around for private sellers, they have much better prices and if you find one that has been taken care of properly you'll be in a much better financial situation.

Car is low milage and in good condition (at least what a person can see from the photos). You want to check and see if any TSB's were done on the car.
The tires look new but are low grade rubber. The car handles much better with the proper tires, OEM Bridgestone S02's. SO2's are on the expensive side so most car dealers will not put "good" tires on the car just whatever is cheap.
Other than that the car looks pretty good. Of course offer less than the asking price but you'll need to check the book value and see what the car is worth.
