Default Negative Comments from other Car Owners, Why?

Just wanted to state that this thread was created to gather some thoughts from fellow S2000 owners and not to begin a flame war between different makes and modles.

I have no problem admitting that I have a passion when it comes to automobiles. I find them to be wonderful pieces of technology and just when I think I can no longer be impressed by them, low and behold I am completely caught by surprise.

I love cars. . . So, it's no wonder that I love my S2000 and in owning this fantastic machine for two years now, I can say that the S2000 community is one of the best (if not the best) around.

So, for the life of me, I simply can't begin to imagine why other folks (who you would think share the same passion) have to be so immature in their comments and misleading in their posts.

For quite some time, I have been monitoring other automotive boards and everytime I see a post or thread on an S2000, I read it. I find myself biting my tongue hard! But, I just wanted to share what I have seen and see if any of you feel the same way.

I don't want to reveal the source. . .

S2ks are pretty slow and pretty overpriced IMO

turbo S2ks are pretty unreliable and get terrible gains... supercharged ones are even worse... car looked great on paper; but terrible in real life...

It may rev fast; but it doesn't get you off the line without bogging majorly unless you want to go through a clutch every 5k miles... and everything under its pricerange outruns it

they don't handle all that great; you'll be fighting it around turns... a Miata and MR-S outhandle it with ease; proven on the auto-x numbers

S2ks have no power below 6000rpms; the dynos prove this as the car makes less power than a Civic EX below 6000rpms

You want a fast Japanese 'vert? Get a Miata and turbo it. You'll kick the crap out of an S2k for way cheaper.

I have driven one and I was left unimpressed. $33k for a Honda? Fat chance!

Honda S2000 is still a HONDA. I guess because many of us dog on Honda Civics and Integras, S2000 shouldn't seem any different.

My wife said that I should'nt worry about things like this. And honestly, I don't really care, I guess I'm just curious as to why folks feel this way about our beloved S2000's?

This thread is sooo pointless, as long as you will have forums, you will have conflict, and difference of opinion.. thats just how it is in every single forum on the net (and not only car forums), and there are probably thousands of other comments just like that, it is as inevitable as dying, it will eventually happpen....

A true automobile enthusiast love cars for reasons such as aesthetics, performance, or historical significance, etc... However, most owners use their car to validate themselves. So, why bother?

Who cares? If you enjoy your car then what does it matter that someone else doesn't? This car isn't for everybody and I don't understand why we would think that it was. I would much rather spend more time driving my car than trying to convince people who don't like it why they should.

one word: disrespect.

those are the kind of people that are:

1) too rich/snobby to admit the S2000 is a great deal and really lives up to it's promise of top end aggressiveness and agility.
2) too poor/envious to give owners any credit for making a smart, informed purchase. also most likely angry that no matter how many custom headlights they put on their cars it still doesn't look as good as a stock S.

ignore the stupid comments. take a look at the person that's giving you the negative feedback and judge the merit of their statements. in most cases, it'll be out of envy/jealous rather than true dislike.

take it easy.

hey i like my s2000. those who complain think toyota camry and honda accords are perfect car. Let me not start on them. lol

it's all good. We sort of need the negative feedbacks for Honda NA to know what we want in their future products.

I have seen on other boards people saying s2000 is slow. Hmm. I used to have a m3 and currently own 02 bmw 330ci and 02 s2000. For the money this is a great car. I think somepeople expect a BJ machine for 32k. I really wonder what they really drive.

So anyway, i love my cars and I could care less what others thing.

flame away, i am keeping my s2k

1) People are stupid.

2) See point number 1.

3) Most "enthusiasts" aren't enthusiasts at all. You should read some of the crap people post on the my350z.com board, stuff like the S2000 is too loud, too low, etc. In other words, see point number 1.
