I recently bought the Neo Car Jukebox 40 gig MP3 player and had it installed in my trunk. The install guys just left the remote unit dangling into the driver's side footwell so I decided to find a better place for it. It took two hours with the dremel tool but here's what I accomplished:
(sorry for the fuzzy image)
Anyone else have the Neo? Man, I love this thing! I have instant access to every one of my CD's and downloaded MP3's, who needs a CD changer? http://www.ssiamerica.com
Very Very kool....I like, i want, maybe for xmas i will get me one. Do u guys think there is anywhere else that the neo may be installed that would look good?
I once had the remote installed where the change holder is. It looked good, but was hard to get to. Also, I had nowhere to put my change. Unfortunately for us, there is not a lot of room in our car to put stuff like this. I looked hard, and I have not found a better solution than installing it around the stereo area. I had the actual unit installed in my trunk up until a few weeks ago, it is now mounted vertically behind the passenger's seat. I was trying to get it away from the bass.
My NEO crapped out after 1 month of use - the right channel went dead and I had to ship the whole dang thing back for repair.
when it worked I was happy though the random function is worthless. I don't know who the idiot firmware programmers are but they need to be shot.
The NEO is nice but pricey for a newone. I got the older NEO35 for $250 with remote but did so with some luck..
The NEO is not for a technically challenged. some may argue against this but they can't relate to others not being adept with gizmos.. I don't recommend one for $500... I'd recommend a good car MP3 player instead. Yeah is only plays CDs but it is a little easier to use and they don't break as much as the NEOs.
I bought one of the original Neo's a little over a year ago and have never had any luck with it. It's currently not recognising HD's but I can't justify any more time on it.
Nice idea, and I'm glad some of you have had success, but they shipped me a lemon.
Wow. I'm sorry to hear that you guys had bad experiences with the Neo. I've been very happy with mine but maybe I'm just lucky . However, I have to dissagree with jnmunsey, I think it is way more of a pain to have to burn MP3's onto CD's and even that can take some technical knowledge if your software isn't the easiest to use. I don't consider myself very technical yet I was easily able to figure out the Neo.
