Default New Cluth & New Friend

Hey all,

I know it's been a while since I've posted up here, but I wanted to share my enthusiasm for the car that captured my heart 3 years ago and recaptured it this weekend.

For those that haven't seen my posts about my clutch going, I've driving with a dead clutch for about a month or so. It's been painful, but I needed to find the right person to put the clutch in, and after reading a bunch of horror stories about the dealers around town, I asked for recommendations. The closest recommendation was a person out in San Antonio, which is maybe an hour and a half away from Austin (where I am). I decided it was worth the drive to have my car in good hands.

So 2 weekends ago, I dropped off my baby to Chris at Bracken Auto. He was kind enough to show me the extensive work he had done on his S2000 and showed me around the shop a little. I was very impressed and left with a great feeling knowing my car was being taken care of by someone so meticulous and caring about automobiles.

Well, I picked up my car this Saturday and while I brought in my car for a clutch, what I got back was A WHOLE NEW CAR! The first thing I noticed, was that my car, which hadn't gotten a wash for a few months due to my dismay about the clutch, looked like it was coming off the show room floor. Not only was the exterior GLEEMING, the plastic window I had so desperately tried to clean numerous times in the past was CRYSTAL CLEAR! As I got closer I realized the engine bay which I had dirtied over the years spilling oil, and just being clumsy while tooling around in there was now SPOTTLESS!

As though all of this wasn't enough, the brake job I did a few months ago I found out was slightly off, which Chris adjusted for me, the CV joints which had plagued me for years were now buttery smooth, and the clutch which barely propelled me to San Antonio now gripped like I had never felt on this car!

To top everything off, I got a ride in his pimped out car, which has given me some inspiration to begin moding my car! Chris was even nice enough to take pictures of the job getting done! It's as though he wanted me to really be a part of the whole experience. Never have I met a person that understood a guy's fears and enthusiasm about their car and actually taken the time to help them feel more apart of the experience. Thanks for everything Chris! I owe you my re-born passion for my car and I will recommend you to anyone that cares about their car at all! BTW, did I mention he did this all for like HALF of what the dealers and other mechanics around me wanted for the job?! Chris you ROCK MAN!

Your new friend,
Nick

Sounds good, it is good to take you car to someone who cares about what they are doing. I am not sure who I will get to do the work on my car?

Wow, I just discovered this thread. Thanks Nick for the kind words. It is always fun to work on a fellow enthusiats vehicle and know what you have done is appreciated. I hope you are enjoying your car still. There should be some drives coming up soon to really put it to the test.

Nick brought his own parts so I don't know their cost. My labor bill was $650. That included the clutch replacement, trans d&r with FM Syncromesh, the CV swap and axle nut retorque. The wash was free

The disc was stock. I don't remember what the PP was. Maybe Nick will chime in on that one.

SilverKnight: The vented hood idea was a good one.
