Exclamation New to the forum. New to the car!

Took delivery of an '05, silverstone with two-tone interior last Friday.
I worked it out on the Tail of the Dragon along the TN/NC border. For those of you who don't know, that's an 11 mile stretch of mountain road with something like 315 turns.

Having passed the 600 mile mark yesterday, I took the engine past 6500 rpm for the first time. Wow!!! This car is more fun than any of the 5 motorcycles I've owned.

The audio system sure does suck!

Welcome to S2KI and to S2000 world!

Just remember to learn the S before you start pushing it hard!

It can be fun, but also dangerous.

Amen to that. I have been an s2k driver/owner now for about a month now, (1100 miles on the odometer) and I broke loose accelerating through a corner yesterday. Scared the living bejeebus out of me. I wasn't in any mortal danger, but my front quarter panel came awfully close to a curb. I regained control instantly, but it only took a second of skid to push me laterally at least 12-15 feet.

Interestingly enough, there was 0 tire squeal. I expected to hear the tires chirp just before they let loose. Not in this car. It was silent through the whole skid (aside from the sound of the engine revving down). I should also mention that it was on asphalt, not concrete, and it was a perfectly sunny day, 80 degrees (road was dry).

Take it easy with your new ride. I didn't obey the golden RWD rule of 'Thou shalt not floor it while turning', and almost caught a curb. Now that I know the 'breaking' point of the car, I don't plan on getting ANYWHERE near it again.

Stay safe!

The audio system is pretty good; just use the volume control on the right side of the driver's floor, not the one on the head unit or in the left dash panel.

318 Turns in 11 miles (you really don't want to miss any of those turns). Congrats on the car!

(For those from Florida I saw the T-shirt that says the best Florida road has 11 turns in 318 miles )

Welcome aboard.

Just curious. What does a "tvlawyer" do? Do you sue Sony or Toshiba when their products fail 1 day after the warranty is up? (j/k)

ps. I have an '00 and some say this original stereo is the worst of all. I find it more than adequate once the rear panel speakers were added. I've never had any complaints about it but then, I have a bit of a "tin" ear.

welcome

i have stock MY00 with stock stereo...

all the cars i've had, i've upgraded sound system (head, sub...) except this car.

frankly, only time i feel that it lacks power is when going >60mph with top and both windows down and listening to radio...

but then again, my windows ususally are up above >60mph, and i increase the volume near the max and fully utilize the stock stereo.

besides, with this car i'm paying attention to other things:

1. driving/handling on the road
2. open air, wind through hair
3. sweet engine sound
4. enjoying the sun and surroundings

to me, with top/windows down

noise level from =

outside +

wind +

engine sound +

decent music level = adequate for me...
