Default New Headlight Lens (AP1)

Hello everybody,

I recently picked up my first S2000. Absolutely love the car, it is a 2001 in showroom condition with 40,000mi.

The only flaw is that the drivers side headlight has cracks all over it.

It is very weird looking and I have never seen anything like it before- there are just very small micro cracks everywhere. The passenger side headlight looks perfect.
The car has been garaged every day of it's ownership and never seen rain or snow.
The owner said he just noticed it one day and had no idea why it happened.

I would love to replace the lens of the headlight. Is there anywhere I can purchase only the lens? I am familiar with the process for disassembling a headlight and would like to avoid purchasing a whole new (used) headlight assembly if possible.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks!

My old ap1 had the same issue. Car was taken care of, yet the driver's side headlight had a whole bunch of tiny cracks on the lens. I don't think anybody sells just the lens for those headlights. I remember trying to look for the same thing a couple years back and another member was recently asking about it as well.

Your best bet might be to keep an eye out for a clean used one, that's what I had to do. Good luck!

I've heard of people buying cheap aftermarket headlights on eBay, and then baking the lens off of them to replace the old, OEM lens.

That's one way of getting that done.

those ebay manufacturers need to make those lenses in production. We would be reusing our pre-existing housing instead of tossing it away for brand new ones because the lenses are scuffed up.

Yeah best bet is get aftermarket one or maybe find some lenses on eBay.(that all involves baking.) or just replace the headlight.
ps: if you replace it let me have the old one. lololol

Send me the link when you find them! I have the same issue . For some reason those small cracks really bug me, especially when light hits them correctly.

That's why people just swap the lenses - keep the higher-quality internal parts, replace the expendable plastic cover.
