Default Water leaking in through tops of windows!?

Hi guys,

Picked up my S2k around a month ago, absolutely love it!

One problem i have noticed though is that when its been raining and i get in the car water spills from the tops of the windows? I've looked closely and it looks like where the windows do up, they are not plugging into the seal correctly, meaning water is working its way in. Its annoying because as soon as i pull away it all spills in and the other day went all over my phone, that i left on the passenger seat.

Any ideas where i can go to get this fixed?

I would try the dealer first... also you may try using the grease on the rubber bits, may help slide the windows into the groove. else the car was in an accident and not correctly repaired... Many possibilities.

Just a quick tip...

Once you get this issue resolved, be sure that your passengers only close your door using the door frame...not the window...

When passengers pull and push on the window, it shifts the window track and causes the window not to sit on the weather gasket properly...

I wor kfor an insurance company and did a Q check on the car before i purchased it. Was in one minor accident years ago, the fact it leaks water on both sides makes me think its not accident related?

I think the rubber seals that the windows slide into may just be worn / miss lodged.

Main dealer will charger a bomb no doubt!

Apply a liberal amount of Shin-Etsu grease (available either on line or at the dealer) to the rubber gaskets. They should swell afterward and make a better seal, otherwise check your window alignment, it's entirely possible both sides are out of alignment. One can gently pull inward on the top of window glass and see if that helps, otherwise the only solution is replacement of the gaskets.

Definitely start with Shin-Etsu grease and see if it resolves the leaks as Vanishing Point mentions above. Use your fingers to generously apply it to all of the rubber gaskets. Wipe off the excess with a towel. I apply it to mine in the spring and the fall every year. I've had my tube of Shin-Etsu for 7 or 8 years and have plenty left still.

Mine leaked on one side and Shin-Etsu didnt help, I just replaced one seal and problem solved. I believe part was about $40 bucks. Easy 10 minute fix.

It was this part for me:

If you check the car manual, there is a section in it for adjusting the windows. They are completely adjustable so you can get them to seat just right on the seals.
