These horns are great. I have had them for a few months. Easy swap for the 02-03 models.

Sorry for bringing this topic back to life but I recently installed the hella air horns on my 2002.

I simply cut the wire for the existing lead to the horn that mounts in the front of the radiator.

I ran a ground, by running a lead from the air horn to the frame.

I recently had one of the wires come loose, when I reconnected it the cruise control and horn didn't work.

I tested the horn and it works.

The wire coming from the harness has no power when I honk the horn.

I looked at the fuses and switched the horn one with another of the same fuse type and still got no power to the horn positive lead.

Any suggestions?

Which panel of fuses did you check (there are a few).

No worries on resurrecting old threads... it means you're using the SEARCH!!

Funny that this thread resurfaced as I was looking at my pathetic OEM horn on my '02 just yesterday and thinking about the upgrade.

Could someone clarify for me though, on an '02 the horn sits inside the engine compartment just next to/behind the air box. Can you simply mount the Hella horn right there or does it need to go somewhere else?

Thanks,

Craig

good thread, and worth the revival-
i would add that the hella air horns are also an incredible sound... i have duals, and have seen guys with triples
mine are mounted in about the same place as the above... and aimed at the ground.
talk about loud!
and they really work- the few times i have had to use them (people on cell phones or women doing make-up, driving suvs that decide to pull into my lane as i am passing seems to be the most frequent use!!) i was very glad that i didnt have the wimpy stockers!!

mine are similar to these (note that this is a truck site!):
