Default New HID Bulbs (D2S) = Brighter?

My 2001 S2000 has 90,000 miles on it and the low-beam HID headlights do not seem as bright as other vehicles on the road that have HID headlights (projector style).

My dad has a 2003 S2000 with 22,000 miles on it and his headlights are A LOT brighter than mine. His car's headlights have been replaced after an accident so they are nearly brand new.

My theory is this: As my HID bulbs have gotten older, the brightness has gotten weaker. Newer bulbs = brighter headlights.

So my question is: Will replacing my old HID D2S bulbs with brand new HID D2S bulbs make my headlights brighter?

Thanks,
Colton

You can try to swap the bulb with a fellow owner and see if there's a difference. Then you would know if you need to buy new bulbs.

Or i guess i could just try switching one of my bulbs with one of my dad's. That would be cheaper.

Has anyone ever damaged an older S2000's headlights (00'-01') and had them replace to find out that they were brighter than before?

Thanks,
Colton

They will fade. Look at the early Acura Tls and Mercedes S class with faded hid headlights. I was able to find a pair of Philips or Osram d2s capsules for about $190 for a pair.
