Have you tried out the horn on anyone yet???
I pity those that are in our way. I had to honk at an SUV that was cutting me off and the lady driving it was really frightened by the horn.
Mwu ha ha ha.

Air horns, now that's a good one. I was thinking about doing that myself. People here in Sydney always seems to drive like idiots after being here for sometime from my observation. They ignore your horn most of the time, maybe it's not loud enough or not distinctive to pay attention. Either cutting you off and driving really slow or driving in the fastest lanes at Sunday drivers' speeds. Now, that is my priority to find something loud, distinctive and effective.
Bieg, why do you care what he thinks of his horns?! Yet another positive post...thanks!

The stock horn is a disgrace to a fine car...I replaced mine, or rather Jason did!...a few weeks ago and I LOVE mine! I got the Fiamm's and they are terrific. I have frightened more than a few of my arch-nemesis, the Chicago Cab Driver, since then.
Love my new horns...
And whoever came up with the ludicrous theory that using the horn makes you a bad driver, well, that's simply one of the dumbest things I have ever heard about driving. It's all about being defensive and if alerting others as to your presence on the roadway, then HONK YOUR BUTT OFF! That's what I use mine for...!
Keep honkin', baby!

Most of the time people use the horns after the stupid move has happened just to let the other driver know they are stupid. What's the point? If you are using it AS THE STUPID MOVE IS HAPPENING you are wasting reaction time blowing the horn instead of reacting. If you are using it BEFORE the stupid move is happening you are wasting time that could be used to anticipate and avoid the stupid move. If you are using it to call your girlfriend out of her house you are an idiot who probably won't last long with her anyway.

I think you are off base here.. communicating intentions is part of good driving in traffic and sometimes you have to get someones attention. A good horn is an important piece of equipment in city driving.

Maybe where you live. No one pays attention to horns in the Big Apple. "Here's your stinkin horn right here pal!"<G>
Seriously, think of it this way. Someone is about to make a stupid move, you have two choices, blow the horn or start to evade. If you blow the horn and the other driver stops his stupid move fine. If you blow the horn and he doesn't well then you gave up valuable time and distance for nothing and odds are you are going to have a bad day. If you don't blow your horn (and waste time and distance) and keep both hands on the wheel and make an evasive maneuver and the driver makes the dumb move you win. If you make the evasive maneuver and the driver does not make the stupid move there is no downside consider it a learning experience on how to avoid stupid moves.
And Greg Stevens, it is a positive post. Maybe some people will learn to drive without HAVING to use their horns.
