Welcome, Gary.

Get used to checking your oil regularly in your S. Beyond the car's appetite for the stuff, it is a very easy car to keep and to enjoy.

Best wishes!

Thank you for the warm words, my wifes car is a '02 Si, so I am used to checking oil frequently. One question, I cannot seem to figure out how to post some pics.

Cool. I'm religious about checking my oil as well. My previous rides were an old school 86 RX7 wiht a rebuilt engine that drank oil like it's life depended on it. Naturally I moved from that oil guzzler to a POS 2000 Jetta that also would require about a quart and a half between oil changes just to keep her topped off. That said, my S2K that's now my daily driver has...*drumroll*...been better with her oil then either of those two cars. I suppose there's something to be said about starting from the bottom and moving up. Enjoy your ride Gary!

Gary, no pix unless you become a s2ki member. Or, if you have a web site that hosts pix, you can link to those using the [ img]http...[/img] tags in your post.

jonnyb, Oh, I'm sure there's no comparison between the oil consumption of an old Wankel and the F20/F22... Still, I like to warn people because there's no built-in oil reservoir idiot light, there's only oil pressure -- and when that goes off it's too late. We've had a few owners lose their engines due to low oil.

Nice car Gary! Congrats on your purchase. Always nice to see another Porsche convert on the board.

Great pics! The 911 is such a timeless design. Were those Fuchs wheels?

So now that you've had a couple weeks to play with your S2000, how about a comparo w/the Porsche?

Yes, those are the stock (optional) 16X7 rears and 16X6 front Fuchs. As far as comparing the two, the Honda has a level of refinement expected given the 20 year difference in age. The Porsche has a raw, untamed feel about it that is so appealing. Nothing sounds quite like the flat six rumbling behind you as you row though the gears. The ride with the optional Bilstein struts is more comfortable then the S, although the body rolls much more in the twistys. Shifting the Porsche, even with new bushings all around is like shifting a bus campared with the S2000. The accelaration on paper is about the same, although the Porsche gets its power much lower in the powerband and has a 6800 redline. One thing I miss is the classic gauge layout, although I admit the video game tach and speedo in the S are growing on me. I would say that the Honda is the only car in its price range that could possibly replace the Porsche in my heart. I do love it and I am looking foward to many miles of happy motoring.
