New Member + Article on 2002 Suspension Changes
Hi all,
I've been lurking for about a week and decided to register.
I'm in the Tampa area and love sports cars - to prove I'm a nutjob, here are just a few that I've owned: 1989 Toyota Supra Turbo, 1993 Toyota MR2 Turbo, 1995 Acura Integra GSR (ok, this one is a stretch), 1996 Saab 900 Turbo, 1995 Mazda RX-7, 1998 BMW M3, 2000 Audi S4.
Currently driving the S4 for about 2 years (a record for me) and got the itch for a roadster...I like the S2000 the best and have a 2002 Silver/Black on order to be picked up in 3 weeks. I can't wait - my first roadster.
I've been reading some of the posts referring to the back-end of the S2K being tail-happy/tendency to oversteer and came upon this article that talks about minor suspension changes for the 2002 model to address this (first I've heard of changes in this area) and thought the board might be interested: http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/otash/preview...w.php3?id=33310.
The new Z3 looks sweet also but will certainly be in the low $40Ks for the 3.0 liter and closer to $50K for the M. Here are some good pics: http://www.supercarstats.com/articles/newz3.shtml. Styling elements from the concept X-coupe but I see a lot of S2K in here also!

That site, being a UK site is probably stating the truth for that market - however, we have not heard anything on the US side. Can anyone check the parts listings on the '02s and compare with the '01's for springs, shocks, steering rack etc?

Not to stir things up but there is a lot we have not heard and have figured out for our own.
Something as small as the trunk lid 3rd brake light being different on the MY2002 is something I have not read about in a car magazine or any other review. However airgate sure was correct when he made his post!

s2ktaxi - you said it! Now that we have the info we need to investigate and figure out if it is applicable to the US market. I would imagine yes, why would Honda give different countries different suspension setting as standard equipment. I can see them giving a unique setting if it were to be an option but I'm thinking we just might have this change on our cars.

It could very well be that the US already had the more stable suspension tuning... I know when the RL was first introduced, the US had the more cushy ride. Then last year, the suspension was retuned to the same as what was in Europe.
