There is more than half an inch clearance from the door panel.
I can also open the glovebox without problem.

 

SnowShoe: Have you sat in the orginal S1? I'm trying to see if someone my size, 6'2 180lbs, would fit in the seat. Sitting as upright as possible in the stock seat still has my knees hitting the steering wheel since I have long legs. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
