I would try and pay off the SI in the next 3 years than get into a S that way u can have a nice DD and a S best of both worlds
Nothing wrong with a little PB&J or Ramen Noodles for a year....
I have the means to buy a DD, but why lose quality driving time in a DD, when you can spend that same time in the S as your DD?
Regardless of how little you drive the S, or how well you preserve it, the value will go down. This is why the last thing I wanted to do was cut time in the S, while having another car to maintain, insure, and clean while BOTH cars are depreciating.
Just drive it!
The S your considering looks great by the way... Good luck in your decision.

So I own a '08 Si and an '06 S and while I love the S for sunny days the Si may be a better car in many ways including road handling, pick-up and overall balance.
But, the S is a roadster. Not perfect. Lacks torque. But, nothing is like it save the older and underpowered early British sportscars.
I'm keeping both...

Well, they both are free and high reving engines that can be quickly tossed thru the gears. Both handle fearlessly and result on being close to the edge of control.
I fell in love with both.
They are not the same.
Rear wheel vs. front wheel.
One the top is up and the other the top is down.
One carry's friends - the other holds the +1.
If it was a matter of money I would keep the Si.
I do not find the S a good DD.
So again I am keeping both.

A Si/S2K owner, love it!
Just to put into perspective what I am thinking is the a $300 a month or less payment compared to my current $450 a month payment on the Si. Also I have checked over and over again and my insurace will be going down about $30 a month with the same amount of coverage. 3.9% on the S2K on a 72 month Vs. the %2.9 for 60 Months I have not. the $2000 the would be remaing to be paid off on the loan after trade I am thinking could be made up for with the Wheels, VIS Hood, MTEC HID kit and H&R springs I currently have on it plus a few other minor things. Might not get it all back but maybe 75% of what I paid for it all. Then I think of the long term. I had this car for 2 years. How long will I have the S? Well considering I wanted one since day 1 but could never afford it I don't think it will be going anywhere for a long long time. And if I can get to the dealer tomorrow I will take detailed notes on what I see to share it with you guy.
Again I appreciate everyones opinion!

I realize the the 06+ have the e-throttle system like the Si, I had a 99 Civic prior to this one and I must agree with most when you can tell the difference in responsiveness with an actual cable, IMO.

Because if you're not keeping the car forever, you're essentially rolling it over into a big balloon payment at the end since you have negative equity.
You're paying less per month, but you're not "saving" any money.
Don't fall into that credit trap.
Do some calculation using some of the online loan calculators (BankRate, Capital One, etc). Use Edmunds "True Cost to Own" calculators to estimate how much each car will cost per year (repairs, maintenance, etc).
If you'd like to get the S2000 because you'd like to get it, more power to you.
But don't think that you're saving money just because your monthly payment is lower.
