So what do you think about the S2000 now that you've driven it? Is it like they described? I'd be interested in your opinion.

Welcome to the S2ki board and enjoy the car. It's been 87k miles of fun for me.

With nearly 3 weeks of ownership under my belt, I now feel qualified to compare my S2000 vs. Boxster experience . First, they are both great cars and, except for price, comparable in many ways . The drives, while both good, are certainly distinctive . The Boxster is either all or none . It only drives well when driven fast . I did not enjoy it around town or on highways . The S 2000 seems to have dual personalities . Around town , it drives like like a Honda ( this to me is a good thing ! ) . Once you get out of town, it drives like the " crotch rocket on four wheels " that it has been described . In short it is the best of both worlds, civilized and untamed in one package . If you want pure sports car, go Porsche . If you like a touch of Jeckel and Hyde stick with the S2000 . Overall style is similar, although the S 2000 has more amenities for the occupant and the Boxster wins on storage . The only real weakness I see currently besides the torque issue ( which to me is a non-issue to me when properly driven ) is the style of the top and need to place a boot to cover the top . The Porsche's integrated automatic hard boot was certainly better but I , for one, can live with this given the price difference . If I had it to do over, I probably would have gone straight to the S2000 ( which confirms all things happen for a reason ) . Take care and Happy Motoring !

I'm a new user (and owner) as well. *Just* purchased a 2000 s2k.
Black with red interior I *love* it!

Was researching the new Mazda RX-8, but felt the tug of the s2k irresistable. I'm off to the DMV for new plates and a change of ownership. Next time I write I'll be $1500 or so lighter in the wallet due to CA taxes

Hey I just got my S 2 weeks ago also (july 4th!). I was researching the rx-8 also but I did not like Mazdas past reliability even though the new motor is a work of art.

Im loving this car! I ordered my first mod today and now my wallets empty =(.
