Default New Owner Alert

Wow.........after months of looking and trying to decide........my local saleswoman calls me up today saying she just got a sebring silver with black in today. So, I drive to the dealer to check it out. What do you know.......I drove it home!!

If you thought my questions were annoying before, just wait........its bound to get worse now that I'm an owner!! My first convertible..........so be gentle with me.........

I need to go do a search...but in case I come up empty, what is the consensus on the Honda extended warranty?? What is a fair price for the 7 year 100,000 warranty extension?

Now I need to meet all you S2000 enthusiasts in Atlanta........when's the next get together.....and can a guy in his "break-in" period keep up??

Wow........so much to learn........so many roads to drive........so many coats of wax to apply

Anything I need to pay special attention to right out of the chute........other than not exceeding 5000 RPM?? It sounds like I need to get myself some Zaino. Anything else?? Besides lots of toothpaste so I can get the bugs out of my teeth from the topless S2000 perma-grin?

Hats off to Nalley Honda off of the I-85 south of Atlanta. Donna Haan is the hook-up.......she can get you a new 2002 S2000 for MSRP.........no hassling required. VERY pleasant experience; I would recommend her to anyone.

Well, it's late, I'm tired, and I'm not sure any of this is comprehensible. Suffice it to say I appreciate all of the answers to my many questions while going through the decision-making process, and thanks in advance for the even more numerous questions I'll be asking soon! And, I look forward to meeting some of you out on the road!

Congrats Mike! You might want to go to the buyers guide section to read up on what to do/look for.

Couple of questions for you seasoned veterans..........

I picked up my S2000 last night. I currently don't own any Zaino (seems to be product of choice). Should I wait until I get Zaino, use what I have at home (Meguiars 3 step process) or use another product available at retail stores to get a wax/protectant on the paint?

I failed to get much information on a search about the Honda Care Extended Warranty. Price offered to me is 5 yr/100K $795; 6 yr/100K $995; 7 yr/100K $1195.
1) Finance Mgr says that price is non-nogotiable on Honda Care product. True/False?
2) Finance Mgt also claims Honda Care Extended Warranty would be better than 3rd party warrantys given that the Honda is bumper to bumper, on on the 3rd party plans, unless it is specifically mentioned as a covered component, you may be out of luck. True/False?

How do I post on the Atlanta Club board? Do I need another password? I tried to post there last night, and it took me back out to a user name/password screen when I pushed the "submit" button.

Mike,

I would suggest using ZAINO but that's up to you if you want to use up your Meguiar's. As far as the Hondacare Extended warranty, I purchased a 7yr/75K/$0 deductible for $1980 at the time I bought my SilverS2K. Unfortunately, I just did not know any better. I am afraid that dealership is not telling you the truth since I have seen previous threads on this matter wherein folks have paid between $450 to $1150 for these Honda warranties. So they are negotiable. I would call around cause you can purchase them from other Honda dealerships.

By the way, you can also try 3rd party extended warranties. I ended up cancelling the Honda warranty since I paid too much for it. In exchange, I went to my credit union and purchased a 7yr/100K/$0 deductible & bumper to bumper coverage on the car for $436. I looked at the contract details prior to signing on the dotted line and found to it to be quite similar to the Honda one. Of course, I can go to my preferred ASE certified mechanic should I need work on the car. As you've heard by now not all Honda mechanics can be entrusted with the task of caring for your baby.

Congrats by the way....

Welcome!
As mentioned above prices do vary on the Honda Extended Warranty.
For the 7/75,000 I was quoted $950 at one dealer and $1,200 at another.
Good luck and have fun, like that will be a problem!

Welcome Mike. Check your oil often, and if you VTEC a lot, check it more often. A young engine driven at high RPMs will use more oil.

Go to the FAQs section, there is a lot of good info there.

I am a Meguiar's believer ! I use their Medallion line of products and in between waxes, I use Meguiar's Quik Detailer. Spray it on and wipe off. It will give you that just waxed look in 10 minutes! If you are real picky and you don't want those small hair line scratches to appear over time, don't use cotton towels on your car. EVER ! Look for towels made with "Micro Fiber Technology" they are very soft, made from synthetics, and machine washable.
