New owner anal retentiveness
Just for fun, when you guys first got your S, what about it were you anal about? And how long did it take for you to stop being anal/stop caring?
I'll begin:
- Front scratches/chips from driving; no longer care after the first week
- Rattles behind driver's side; no longer care after first week
- Popping noise by the passenger side of the soft-top; still anal about it (it's so loud)
- Door dings; still anal about it
- Passsengers grabbing the soft-top frame when getting out; still anal about it. This really pisses me off, not only are they dinging the soft top they are also putting undue stress on the frame. I have a feeling my frame will be misaligned/damaged soon

P.S. I've had the car for almost a month now.

Grabbing the soft top frame to get out, dang I haven't seen that one, thankfully.

I'm just as anal about the car now as when I bought it back in '04.
Most people around here are very careful around the car, probably because it's widely recognized. The only times I've had people do things to the car that I didn't like were at some of the car shows. Our models knew not to sit on the car when posing with it, but some guys would want to take pictures of their girlfriend (or themself) leaning on the car, or worse, sitting on the fender or trunk. Just try sitting on your front fender sometime and see what happens.
It's almost as if some of the people think that because they paid to see the cars, they can do anything with them that they like. I learned very quickly that I could not leave the car unguarded, and that at times we'd have to be harsh as hell with some of the jackasses.
People who see my car for the first time and don't know an AP1 from an AP2 always think my car is brand new, and I've actually seen six month old S2000's that were in much worse shape, so I'd be surprised if anyone here is any more anal about their car than I am. Actually, I should be saying "we," because my wife and daughter, and everyone else I know, is a bit anal about the car. It's not at all like driving a Ferrari and having to worry about people spitting on the car or keying it, but I'm not really sure why. LOL, maybe the kind of people who do that kind of thing identify with Honda for some reason.

I tell people when they close my door to close it with their palm on the glass of the door. I have a BB and I can not stand when people close my door by touching the door. I never have to worry about my gf getting in and out of the car as I open it for her. All my friends know to watch how they shut it. I don't let many people in my car because they are just not trusted from my end. If we go somewhere and I take my car it's because I know the person.
How I park is a whole different ball game. I'm a manager at Ruby Tuesday that is located in a mall so you can only imagine how I think. I've already had my antenna stolen twice so I gave up with that. I either park really close to the curb but not to close as to scratch my rims or I park in an end section of the lot where they have the painted stripes the contour out of the section. I park my car half in the white section and half in the spot. Looks like I don't know how to park but I have zero door dings on my 2001. The only spot I have a ding is near my antenna base and I haven't the slightest idea in the world how that got there.
