Default New Owner!! Finally!

Hey guys I finally got my S2K and I love it even though I can't wind her up yet. I'm a newbie here so please bear w/ me. Of course I test drove a used S to see if I really loved it and do. Winding it up to 9k is a blast!! Fits my driving habits!!

So as far as break in period I was told 600 miles...

How about speed/RPM's?? What shouldn't I do?? I'm not used to a 9k rev limit yet...

Any input would be greatly appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!

The general rule is to keep your revs lower than 6K until the break in period is over (600 Miles as you meantioned)... consult your manual for any other quandries.

Thanks for the info... I know its bad but I haven't read the manual yet... My car is at my sisters house and I left the manual there... Dumb huh?? I haven't visited her since I got the car. As far as the RPM's I've been good. Haven't gone over 5k yet

Thanks again!!

proper break-in requires constant changing of engine rpm. that means you should avoid constant speed highway driving as much as possible.

I was gonna say the same thing. When I bought mine, I had to drive 200 miles home. I was constantly shifting up and down and fluctuating my speed to keep my rpms fluctuating. I also think it is good to not go full throttle(at any rpm) until you reach 600 miles, but that's just my opinion.

3 Things To Watch During Break-in:
1. Not over 5500 RPM's for first 600 miles
2. Go easy on brakes for first 600 miles
3. Check your oil often

Why hasn't anyone said

WELCOME, CONGRATULATIONS, and enjoy the ride.

Sometimes I wish I was back up in the bay area. So many great roads up there, great sights, and adventures.

Have fun.
