Can you scan the shifter plate? The DIY adept among us could probably duplicate the work. With a good template and hobby shop sheet metal, the plate could be done for under $30. Don't know if it would look as good, but it might be worth the effort of trying. Is the shaft OEM or is that custom too?
Please read the above post by me, I highlighted in blue the answer to one of your questions

As for a DIY for the shift plate it's self..."hobby shop sheet metal" it not going to do it. You need to use a good quality 1/8" thick aluminum plate. There is a matching ring plate below it that is threaded for the fasteners.
There is allot more to it than meets the eye It took months to come up with a working model and after a year of use it broke. I made the repair, modified the design, and had it cryoed no more problems now .......Smoooooth shifting all the way

Any fitment problems keeping the oem heat shield on the headers and using the engine damper?

Ken
no fitment issues. there will be a template to guide you to cut your OEM heat-shield. the template will ensure you with a perfect cut.

Puddymod ETD is the only full kit on the market that will work on North Americans S2000. some features like....

-no cutting of the L-shaped bracket
-no AC line resting on the damper
-fuse box mount present
-no heat-shield mounting problems since its using OEM heat-shield

My design is an open gate because of how close the gears are. The shift has about a 30% shorter throw than the OEM. It is right on the money for fast shifting

I can do Ferrari individual gates but, the throw would be longer.
