I just don't think it would compare in terms of raw driving experience to the 1999-2009 versions, but you never know?
I too sincerely doubt that they'll be able to recapture the magic. I already have a V8 M3 as a daily driver. It outperforms the S2000 in almost every way but one. Even though the M3 is an amazingly balanced car, and arguably the best all around sports sedan, it never feels quite as "fun" as the S2000, even when it is taking the same corners at twice the speed.
It's like the McLaren 12C vs. Ferrari's 458 Italia. I don't know how many times I've seen reviews where the McLaren is technically the better car, but the 458 had the much better driving 'experience".
