The only thing I really like about the new 06's is that new color and stronger chasis, for the most part...for the overall car, I prefer the 00-01's
RE: Human Nature

So, you prefer the 00-01 MY and you own a MY 00. It seems that the inescapable pattern is more than coincidence. S2K owners tend to prefer the MY that they purchased and are usually less enthusiastic about MYs that they don't own. I suppose that we could continue the debate about which MY is best, although I believe that we already know the positions that most owners hold. My comment is not intended to be a criticism of yours or anyone elses MY-preference and is more an observation about human nature and self-selection bias. I believe that the major predictor of my MY-preference is the same as yours, although I own a different MY. By the way, when we get tired of the endless debate, I like your MY 00 S2K too.

I am sure this has been discussed in full already but, what's up with the 2006 models getting less horsepower?

It has the same power. The rating system has changed.

I think for any one, including me, hoping the s2000 would stop production soon can count on it for a few more years. With the traction controll added and a new engine in Japan, I doubt there is any way they will stop production soon, it wouldn't make any sence to add all these things and then cut production. Hopefully they will ride this out for 06' and 07' and then finally cut production on the car.

haha...lol, lets have a debate...j/k because honestly I doesn't matter, I just figured I'd throw my opinion in there, and of course there are reasons.

The main things I don't like about the 06's are the drive-by-wire, wheels, and the stability control. Stability control may be iffy depending on how it works, it may be nice to some extent, but, in other situations I'd rather leave it completely off, which of course makes it eaiser in not having at all. But then, that is something I guess we have to wait and see how Honda made it work before going to far into it. Drive-by-wire...personally I just don't like it, again I don't know how the S2k's drive-by-wire will be set-up, but every other car I've driven with it, I don't like it. I like my direct connection to the throtle as I understand what I'm doing with it.

As far as the 2.2L, I'd love to have a 2.2L in the AP1, just one with a modified head that could support it running to 9000. I wouldn't think that the piston speeds would be THAT high for it assuming there was no valve float. The main concern would be the stress on the rods...but then, I'm going WAY off topic...back to the 06'

You guys all realize that the NSX, Honda/Acura's premier sports car and super car has used a Drive-By-Wire throttle system since 1995 right?

Considering the S2000 was/is built on the same line as the NSX, I'd imagine the S2000's drive by wire throttle system is probably not much different than the NSX's and it probably won't be so bad ... I have never heard of anyone complaining about the NSX's drive by wire.
Yeah, and Jeff at vtec.net reports no detectable lag in throttle response.
