New S2000 is reportedly "mid-engine"
Have your fun have not smoked in years ( but may have a few years back). New S2000 is coming in 2017 according to reports (NSX and JDM 660 in 2015). All the writers are fixated on the next Gen being mid engine....which the AP1 was.
Can't decide on next Gen NSX or next Gen S2000.

Well considering how the "next s2000" is a pipe dream I really see no way anyone could "make a decision" and said reports are nothing more than literal speculation. Honda has released nothing that even suggests that they are going to bring the s2000 (or variant) back. Anyway, back to reading Weekly World News...really hope that this Big Foot carcass found in Arkansas can be cloned, latest reports say it can.
The AP1 from 2000-2003 is a mid engine car (front mid engine by definition). I would guess that the majority of AP1 owners don't know they are driving a mid engine car. It is clear the writers claiming a new S2000 don't. The AP2 is not a mid-engine by the way ( do your research). My guess is they are returning to their roots.......

P.S. Looks like I need a bigger garage

The ap1 and ap2 are both the same car with the same frame and same engine type mounted in the same location. They are both front mid engine cars.
Generally when people say mid engine they mean the engine is behind you and between the front and rear axles.
