Default new tires=improved accelleration?

had a new set of rears tossed on yesterday and was curious if i'm actually "feeling" a difference in accelleration or if its just psychological. when i purchased the car id had 265/35/18's on the rear and i switched them out to (kinda made a goof on tire size but oh well) 225/40/18's. its quite a bit less rubber so i would think i'm probably feeling a difference but thought i'd ask. it feels noticably improved especially under v-tec range.

i dont like the 18's and will be swapping them out to a much lighter 17 this summer and am sure i'll notice a difference there as these 18's are heavy as hell. i actually wish i had a set of stockers just to switch out and compare as i'm sure the difference is quite noticable!

apologies if this is all garbled nonsense, i just woke up

You are accelerating quicker since the tires weigh less and, more important, they have a smaller diameter. We're talking less than 10 percent difference here though.

I didn't know the same 18" wheel could support a 225 and 265

the 265's were definitely WAY over stretched to be on that rim! i honestly have no clue how they even got them on, they must have been cussing up a storm the entire time! the overall tire height isnt too terribly much different but i'd be curious to know what the weight difference is?

3-7 lbs depending on which tires of course. The diameter difference is only .2-.4", not extreme.

He never stated what "width" of rim he has and thus, you cannot make any assumptions about whether or not a particular tire size is "stretched" or "pinched" on that rim.
