Default New or Used s2k?

Hello peoples,

First post! I've been a fan of the s2k since it was released. Now I'm thinking about finally buying one. Should I get a used one or new (2004/2005) model? Any year better than the others if I buy a used s2k?

I bought my S2k new, but I would never knock anyone for buying used. You save a ton on depreciation. However, there is something to be said for knowing where the car has been from DAY 1.

All years are great. The glass rear window on the post-02 are nice, but I wouldn't turn down a great pre-02 for that one minor difference.

Good luck.

If you have a chance, why wouldn't you buy new?

My only thought is that if you want the 9K redline, you have to buy MY 03 or older.

Good luck.

If you were buying a Civic or Accord I would only suggest used. The S2000 is a high strung animal, and abuse could lead to big problems down the road. Either new or CPO unless you know the owner very very well.

The other thing to consider is the fact that even new this car is a great value. I think they are under priced. If you keep the car beyond the warranty then you definitely want new or CPO.

I bought new 6 weeks ago and I looked hard at CPO's.

If you find a new 04 you can strike a deal where you are paying half way between a CPO 04 and a new 05.

I looked at a new one first. I love how Rio Yellow looks under the light. I like the aluminum accents, new style headlights and taillights, and scalloped door panel inserts. If I were going to keep the car stock I would have liked the F22C more than the F20C. But I saved $10,000 by buying a used car.. and when you're spending $2k a month on camera gear (starting a business) and also trying to save for a house, every penny counts. I got one that was certified and had the dealer extend the bumper to bumper coverage to 100k miles.

One of the best things about buying new is you have your choice of color.

When I bought mine, my Accord was paid off. If I traded in my Accord, my monthly payments would have been the same as if I kept my Accord and bought a used one. I chose the latter. I'm glad I did... I never knew how much I took my Accord for granted until the first time I went to Target with a friend and she had to buy a X-mas wrap container based upon the dimensions of the s2000 trunk!

question: when you buy used from a dealer, do you still have to pay taxes?

IF you can afford, buy new. If want to save some money and keep the 9000 rpmz I say go with 02. Cheaper anyway but I do like the new front bumpers for the 04+. I guess it depends if you care about the rpm thing and the price. My o2 had 15k miles on it, so to me it was like new anyway, someone just broke it in for me.
