Thumbs up New wheels and alignment

I know you need to do an allignment when you lower the car but does it need to be done when you purchase new wheels? The reason I ask is because I plan on getting new wheels and coilovers but I may just ride on the new wheels for a while until I get the suspension (due to insufficient funds), and I don't want to have to allign it twice. Thanks.

theres no need. Only time is when you've changed the suspension

My advice to you is to wait and put it all on at once. While most of the time it is not necessary to realign with just new wheels, if you are going to a bigger or wider wheel it can change things slightly. Just wait a little longer and put everything on and get one alignment.

i had mine realigned after i dropped it (only an inch) and on new wheels cause it rubbed like crazy- on all 4.
drove it for a week to let it settle and then had an aggressive street alignment. no more rubbing and it handles even tighter than it did in stock!

I would recommend that you have the car aligned. Different wheels can and do change the suspension geometry and alignment angles. This is particularly true if you upsized. If you wait until later on, your ride quality may suffer. As far as tire wear goes; depending on how long you ride, you may establish problematic wear patterns sooner than later.
GET IT ALIGNED, PLEASE!
