Default new wheels installed today.........

i got my new SSR competition with 225/40 and 255/35 Pirelli Pzero Nero and Eibach lowering spring installed today. I like the look, I think I need some time to get used to the handling. However, i felt the car accelarate slower and the break was not as powerful as it used to be. anyone experience the same thing after upgrade to bigger rim and wider tires?

Yes the wheels will make the car feel heavier. I immediately noticed this feeling as well but my car is still just as fast as when I first got it 38k miles ago.

I just put these same wheels on my S and actually found it more nimble. They are an inch wider, so it turns quicker. The ride feels about the same, but the car tracks a little when you get in a rut. I like it!

Do you have a photo with it lowered? How much did you drop it?

abesimpson: I lowered it with Eibach pro kit. I'm still trying to find out if the installation done correctly or not, because my front fender gap is bigger than I thought. Currently, it's two fingers in front and one finger in the rear. The measurement from the groud to the fender will be 26.00 in front and 25.75 in the rear, with nothign in the cabin and empty trunk, tire pressure set as 32psi all around. i'm not a member, thus can not post photos here. sorry.

did you have yours lowered? if so, what's your measurement from ground to the fender??

the car is always going to feel a bit slower off the line, because an 18" rim with tire is just a bit higher then stock. even thought people say they are the same its not true. the 18" is a hair higher, but enough to give you a slower start, but it will handle a lot better due to the wider contact patch all the way around

Get the new rear gears, 4.57 or 4.77 and that'll address your concerns. BTW, next to the 18" ce28n, the SSR Comps are very light wheels for their size. My 18" ce28n with the Toyo T1-S are 2 lb lighter (each tire&wheel) than my stock wheels with zero tread S02!
