Default New windshield - price?

My car's windshield has a large vertical crack right in the center. How much can I expect to pay for a new windshield? Would you go to a dealer for replacement, or a glass shop?

Just wondering, if anyone's had it done recently...

Best Wishes,
-Bob

Your dealer will probably recommend an independent windshield installer. That guy will probably be mobile, so you can have the replacement done at home or work or wherever.

I paid $350.00 for a recent replacement.

$350's not bad at all. The trick now is getting a day off to take 'er to town. There are no local glass shops that do windshields, mobile or otherwise.

Thanks for the information!

Call your ins. agent. There should be no penalty and they should pay for your replacement.

here in Florida it is a 0 deductible insurance claim, meaning ZERO out of pocket to you. Its a law here that windshields must be free and clear of any cracks or breakage. Once the windshield is cracked it is considered compromised and no longer safe.

Do not let whoever looks at it try to convince you to "repair it" by filling the crack. This never works right and looks horrible. Insist on replacement. Also insist on OEM parts. PPG is a good manufacturer but dont let them give you cheap replacement windshield.

Yeah for non OEM

If you want OEM it will be a tad more installed.

I just had mine replaced.

I had a windshield replacement done at the dealer by an independent installer. The dealer ordered my WS from Honda, so it's factory.

The cool thing is that my new WS has this little sticker on the bottom left of the drivers side that says Made in Japan.

Kind of corny I guess, but it looks cool to me! LOL!

I got a spider chip fixed half a year ago, it didn't spread at all yet and is still hardly noticeable.
