Default Newbie with a couple of questions

First off, thanks to all who have provided all the great info here. I became the proud owner of a Grand Prix White 2005 S2K last week. I have a couple of questions I hope you can answer.

The dealer I purchased car from only provided me with only the valet key. I didn't know this at time of purchase. They are refusing to provide me with a master key. Honda of Ocala (not seller) quoted me almost $300 for a master. I have found blank keys on Ebay that have chip 13 in them. Is that the right one? If not, can you tell me which one I need?

Also, I read the Edmunds.com webpage on the 05 S2K. Maybe I misread, but it seemed to indicate that all 05's came with remote door/trunk locks with a keyfob. Is this true? To be honest, I'd rather buy a keyfob that will lock/unlock the doors/trunk that I can program than a key. As I have only the valet key I have to get in the car to unlock trunk.

Thanks again for all of the great info!

The car *should* have come with a master key labeled s2000, another black honda key, and a valet key. Along with two fobs. The fobs are extremely simple to re-program, so find one and search for the mini tutorial on youtube or s2ki. As for the keys... hate to say it, but they are expensive no matter what. I was quoted 160 for just a key, not sure which number blank you would need. But the cutting and programming of the *key* is the expensive part I believe.

When you buy used, you get what the previous owner turns over. My S was bought used and I had only one master key, one keyfob and one valet key. The dealership you brought it from probably only had that as was not willing to pay for a set of keys from Honda. You'll have to decide if the valet key is enough (won't unlock glove box or trunk) or if you should just shell out the money for the key you want.

Good luck and welcome to the S2000!

Ya same here I was quoted 150 for a key so I went ahead and bought one on ebay with the chip and when I took it to the dealership they wouldn't cut it because it wasn't oem so I got lucky and found an oem here for 40 bucks and had it cut and programed for free

Thanks for the info. Are you saying all 05's came with keyless entry?

If so, would this keyfob work?

Thanks again!
