the nicest HID of all
hey guys, i dont own a s2k, i own a 350z instead, i think s2k is a great car too, i love them.
ok, since i got the base model z, i dont have HID. and i love the HID on you guys' s2k!! it is really nice. i am wondering how many k(color temperature) the s2k HID have? if i want to do a HID conversion (from halogen to HID), what brand and how many k would you guys recommend? thanks a lot!

It has become illegal in California to sell aftermarket HID kits, from what one store owner told me this weekend. So if you're going to do it then do it soon, because it may get harder to find some kits or prices may sky rocket on whats available. Don't quote me on this, but he told me his suppliers stopped placing orders. If anyone has concrete info on this, please jump in.

This has been discussed before, as well as all over the net. DOT asked the conversion companies for DOT compliancy, so far none of them has provided any. One company did try to get DOT certification last year and was denied. Basically, it came down to the replacement bulb was not a filament, thus did not meet DOT specs for a replacement since it was different.
Fine can be levied for selling non-DOT compliant products, just ask APC.
Android123,
Don't do it. Improperly aimed HID lights are extremely blinding to others. HID setups are engineered for this, while halogens are not. A typical halogen puts light everywhere; the HID is designed not to.

If you want Genuine Philips Xenon products, check out http://www.xenondepot.com. I had the 6000K's on my RSX-S. Keep in mind the 4300K will look more white/yellow when not used with projector headlights, like the ones the S2K and higher Z models have; thats why I got the 6000K's. It emitted a very white light with a tint of purple; good stuff.
Oh, and if you're trying to search for the bulbs, I believe the model is "D2S", not "DS2." Good luck.

If you want brightest stay with 4300k(stock)
If you want more white..I think 6000k is the best..anything higher than that will be more bluish and it wont be bright as 4300k
Also you might want to search for 50watt kit which gives you alot brighter beam..(stock is 35watt)
