Wait until you can drive the 350Z.

Should be a great car. It will be very different in character from the S2000.

Get the Z. If 2003 is the last year of the current s2000 you could be in for a world of hurt. I love the s2000, but if i could afford a 37000 z and did not care about a convertible, I'd get a Z

In my mind, they are completely different cars for one reason: the S is a convertible. If you know you want a convertible, and won't compromise, than that knocks out a lot of cars that would otherwise be competitors--including the 350, the new RX8, etc. Until the drop top version of the 350 comes out, in my mind they are not at all comparable cars.

Even when the convertible Z comes they are still quite different cars. The 350Z is more of a touring car whereas the S2000 is more of a raw sportcar.

One thing thing that really pisses my off about the 350Z is that they are not offering a sun/moonroof in any model -- and you know damn well they will in the future. It's like Nissan's marketing department is trying to screw the early buyers! Also, the only way to get leather and a manual is to get the Touring model and pay a grand extra for the same 6-speed manual that's standard in the other models!! Okay, I guess that's two beefs!

The 350Z will be a nice car. It would make a nice daily driver for me if I had an extra $30 grand laying around!

hm.. im not sure, cali weather is nice all year round, a roadster sounds really nice.. but i went to my nissan dealer and they had a new Z in, so i checked it out, its very clean inside and out. not saying the S2000 isn't, but yeah. for the money, i think the Z is nice, because it can double as a daily driver.. or i can get both but yeah! i can't believe it! i hope they don't change the S2000 much, i think i want to get one later once im under a lot of stress with being a lawyer

Well i just went through this decision process over the weekend and I went with the S2000.

Reason #1 - its a convertible and there is nothing like driving a convertible in Toronto during the summer with so many beautiful ladies walking the streets everywhere..

reason #2 - I can buy it now.. In Canada, I heard i cant even test drive the Z until next spring !

reason #3 - I think there will be too many Z's on the road in a couple of years. The S2000 will be alot more unique IMO . And the chicks I know really dig it

reason #4 - I wanted the Z in yellow but of course they dont make that car in yellow. I told myself awhile ago that If I get a sportscar IT HAS to be yellow ! The BEST color !

Bill,

I agree with all your points except number 4 - I prefer a bright blue. Have you posted in the Toronto forum yet?
