"Daily driver" is simply another term for "idling about in city traffic with occasional forward movement at a snail's pace." Why in the world would I seek out a car that encourages me to sit in traffic? My S2000 from Day 1, in all of its "on the edge" glory, encourages me, as Supertramp would say, to "take the long way home." When one of the MAIN comparison factors between sportscars is how well they behave in city traffic, code speak for "daily driver," then we should all be afraid.
I didn't opt for a 9,000 redline to move 10-feet at a time in comfort.

As someone who owns a S2000 and has a 350Z on order (BTW, I'm NOT getting rid of my S), its all internal marketing bs to me. Actually its not really a big deal, as I'm sure Honda is preparing its own internal marketing spin on the 350Z vs S2000.

All I gotta say is just look at the true numbers... they don't lie.

0 to 60 -

S2000: 5.8 seconds
350Z: 6.0 seconds

Quarter Mile Times:

S2000: 13.8 seconds
350Z: 14.0 seconds

All ran by professional drivers from Motor Trend. Case closed as to which is faster.

As to which is better... it's all subjective opinions.

This what they call marketing, convince a potential buyer that their product is better. Sometimes if your product isn't superior, you need to stretch things a bit.
They are very different cars, perhaps they should be targeting the pony car market.

They targeted everyone and their dogs, from the Boxster to the Audi TT. Give me a break, there will a lot of these on the roads and I would say that after the 1st year production and sales will drastically decline, since who really wants a car that everyone has

We'll have to see how the Frankenstein of the automotive world holds up

They think we are scared of the Z on the 350 board, yeah right, I'll reserve my first clutch dump just for you "fat girl"

The cars are entirely different concepts. The s2k is a true sports car based upon the design of an open-wheel race car. The Z is a "sporty" GT car based upon the Porsche 996 (911), which is also no longer a true sports car. Both great cars, but anyone interested in spare tire room, shoulder room, adjustable steering wheels, fake wood and carbon fiber trim pieces, with all the extra weight, is not going to be interested in a road-going race car with the feel of an F1 cockpit. Anything adding weight for the mere sake of comfort, convienience, or style is getting away from the sports car concept. Also, I am quite confident that the Nissan will fall far short of the vastly superior Honda fit/finish, quailty, durability and reliability.

While I laugh at the incorrect statements... don't bash nissans too much for building a long lasting vehicle! My dad has driven his PL521 Datsun truck continuously for 30 years. I like the new Z, and wish them well. Gotta laugh at the ad writers tho'!

My favorite line about the S2000 is still "Because the S2000 existed at all... it is all ready legendary"! don't think that will ever be said about the new Z!!

Rightfully so, too. "Kidding" or not, that stuff's not called for here.

BTW for the record, that my350Z.com forum, is filled with a bunch of people who think that their new Z is god's gift to man.

No use in trying to argue with a bunch of infantile ego manic neanderthals.

You're right, Mav. I went over there expecting to find a bunch of sports car enthusiasts and instead found a bunch of people who think the Z is almost faultless. Kind of funny when you consider that 99% of them haven't even driven one yet.

Sure there are bad apples even on here, so I'm sure there are some cool guys over there who can respect other cars. I just noticed a large amount of people like you're describing.
