My 06 down under, has never had "beep" on lock... push once and lights flash and doors lock, push twice and doors will unlock.

Dunno Terry. maybe follow skylinrcr01's advice and insure the alarm unit is in working order. Good luck.

There's something different going on here. My remotes (MY01 and MY07) have both a "lock" button and an "unlock" button. Pressing the "lock" button once will lock and flash, the second time will beep, but no matter how many times you press the "lock" button, it will not unlock. What buttons are on your remote?

I don't think I'd like a remote where you unlock the car if you inadvertently press the button a second time.

^^Same here. One hit of the lock button, doors lock and parking lights blink. Push twice and it flashes and honks.

It might sound like a silly question, but does the horn work?

I don't know if you already know this, but you can change your car setting to beep when you hit lock twice or no beep at all.

Look on the back of the remote on the bottom and it shows you how to do this. It says Press both the "option" button and "lock" button to change the setting.

Good info.I did not know this. I also own a 06' as of just a few weeks.I actually like the horn sound upon pressing twice on the lock button, but it's nice to know it can be defeated.

Yes it is nice to be able to choose. I rather not have the horn because when i park i rather not draw attention to the car so i go silent mode.
