Yes it is nice to be able to choose. I rather not have the horn because when i park i rather not draw attention to the car so i go silent mode.
Is this for AP2 only?

New data point! My 01 with factory alarm:

use lock and option simultaneously to toggle between 2 modes:

mode 1) silent.

mode 2) upon pressing lock button once, the car locks and beeps once; upon pressing unlock once, the car unlocks and beeps twice

It appears that I have an A type remote transmitter (the one without the panic button). Is there anyway I can get the car to beep / flash? I also have a non-oem sound system installed.

I think this means my car did not come with an OEM alarm system from the factory...

*sigh*

You press and hold the lock and option button and it should flash a couple times and try locking it a few clicks to see if it beeps. This is for the oem remote btw.

For me and I do believe it is the same for everyone else, the option button is for the trunk.

This didn't work for me, although I don't have anything under the driver's seat?
