"No Fade" 7440 bulbs?
I'm about to clear my headlights and need to replace the U.S.-spec clear turn indicator bulbs (7440) with amber.
Can anyone tell me the difference between 7440A "regular" and 7440AJ "No Fade" turn indicator bulbs? The former sells for about $8 the pair, while the latter goes for about $17.
The "No Fade" apparently is for JDM. Are these bulbs suitable for U.S.?
Thanks for your help.

i have not been able to find ambers for the usdm 2000. the jdms have a "push-in and turn" type mount, while i think the usdms are just push in. i do know that the jdm and usdm lights are not interchangeable (when my diffusers were put in a fellow owner had jdms and was going to give me his amber bulbs, but they didnt work in my usdm plugs).
where did you find usdm ambers?

In reference to "jdm" and "usdm"....you are talking about the diffusers themselves or are you replacing something more complicated? I'm about to change mine and wanna be able to put the amber bulbs in too this'll help me out too.
Thanks wanabe & s2ka. Here's the site: www.litelens.com/coloredbulbs.htm
Feisty, I'm talking about bulbs, not diffusers. As I understand it, the stock (clear) bulb for usdm is 7440. The amber version is 7440A. Also available is 7440AJ, which is "no fade" (jdm). The 7440AJ is twice the cost of 7440A.
I'm just trying to find out what "no fade" is and if it will work in our housings.

7440 is the correct bulb. The "no fade" probably refers to the amber coating, the cheaper ones might not have as good of an amber coating. I wouldn't worry about it too much, unless you're going to go without diffusers. You might just go for the expensive one, it's only a few dollars more. The Nissan bulbs are probably very high quality, try 'em first to see if they are less expensive.
I just replaced mine with the 7443 amber bulb from APC. Same fit and it works. Got it at Pep Boys for 4.99. I also painted them, the side marker, and rear bulbs silver so it the orange would not be visible. After the paint there not as bright as stock but it works and looks better.
You can also look for these bulbs but there hard to find the Raybrig Stealth T20's, Polarg B1 visuals T20's, or Phillips Silvervision bulbs. They are all chrome bulbs but shine orange.
By the way thats the only thing APC or from Pep Boys thats on my car.

great post...
i am running clears under smoked diffusers since i couldnt find the ambers (of course, now from the above info i could get them). the clears are growing on me- i like the "daytime running lights" look with the parking lights on.
anyone else running clear turn bulbs?

dude, honda has amber bulbs (genuine honda part)
i personally think running anything but amber bulbs is retarded, especially sitting behind clear lenses.

That post talks about the wedge bulbs(parking lights) being amber, not the turn signal bulbs. Those came with my clear side markers. When I went to Honda they said that they didn't carry a 7440 in amber. Personally I see no point in having clear headlights and still running visible amber bulbs. Dosen't that defeat the purpase of clear lights if the orange color is still reflecting in the housing?
I'm running Polarg B1 visual bulbs in the parking lights. They come pretty close the HID color.
