The '04 and '05 cars seem to have the oil consumption situation under control. I'm not sure what Honda did but they did something. I have not seen any of these MYs being reported with oil use. Perhaps it has something to do with the lowered redline. Perhaps Honda changed the component contruction of the cylinder liners or they're using slightly different rings or both.

My 04 has 13400 miles it was broke in as per Honda. Switched to Mobil 1 at 13000
miles. As most people have stated with the 04s and 05s mine has yet to consume
a single drop of oil. I Vtec quite frequently, and my driving ....well lets say spirited.

I have a 2002 with about 11,500 miles on it, and I change the oil about every 3500-4000 miles. I usually burn between 1/2 and a full quart in between oil changes.

Last time I checked, I was down a quart. Was on a road trip, so I stopped into an auto parts store to pick up a quart. All they had was synthetic blend. The guy at the store said it was fine to mix with pure dino oil, so I added it. . . hope he was right. Xviper, and advice?

My 05 consumed probably 3/4 a quart up till my first oil change at 6000, had to add, maybe 1/5 quart at 9000, so pretty limited oil consumption.

No vtec till 600, and a lot of vtec after that

He was right. Don't worry about it.

Guys, some of you are getting a bit on the paranoid side about this whole oil usage thing. The pre-'04 car "generally" will use oil to some extent or another. This is not to say that some won't. The later cars "generally" have not been reported as using any oil. This is not to say that some won't.
If you use none, then that's a good thing. You are lucky. If you use some, that's OK, too. As long as you don't start see blue smoke out the back and you're not burning it up at an alarming rate - more than a qt. every 1000 miles or so. The harder you drive it, the higher is the "possible" oil usage.

Actually, it was a "hot" check. Will check again tomorrow morning.

Somewhat offtopic, but i got my first oil change at about 3500, is that okay? I heard there are supposedly additives in the oil that originally comes with the car to help break everythign in. Not sure if i was suppose to wait till 7k for my first oil change (before switching to severe or normal oil change intervals, give or take which i would fall under)
