No oil usage
I have 2000 miles on my 04 and has yet to show a drop in the oil level.
I Vtec several times while driving and is a mixture of city and highway miles.
I check the oil level every day. Just thought this was a little strange seeing
how i have read that while these car are relatively new that they use some oil.
Mabey its just my car and driving habits. Although i did order my car and recived it with
10 miles on it. I broke it in according to the book all the miles were also a combination
of city and highway miles. Any feedback on this will be appericated.

7K on mine....no burning....mostly highway miles but some decently hard driving through the twisty hills around here....
VTEC no less than 4 times a day
and a lot of full throttle acceleration.
Keep checking anyway, it's a good habit.....watch tire pressure, mine was two lbs low after first month. Stiff bumps can cause you to lose tire pressure...

Every engine is a little different, and in each year there have been small changes made to improve the oil consumption.
Yours should do a little better than last years cars. My '04 didn't need a quart till 6,000 miles.
Keep in mind that high performace engines do use a little oil by design, that is why F1 cars have extra onboard tanks.

Mine is 2001 with 11,000 miles....Zero oil consumption. I VTEC and redline at every chance I get.
It burned oil up to 5500miles. At 5500 I switched to synthetic. Since then Zero oil consumption.
I did my first oil change at 1200miles and then again at 2400 with dino oil. This might have somthing to do with it. My compression is a solid 230psi across the board.

2001 here also. Presently have 25,000 kms on it and have never used any oil between changes. Purchased it when it had 25kms on it and vtec'd for the first time before it had 30kms. Have owned many sport bikes and subscribe to the run the hell out of it early and often theory! Worked with all the bikes and they redlined as high or higher. Only warranty work ever done on the car was the spark plug and drivers window tsb. By the way, I don't know if this is true or not but I was told by a Honda mechanic (friend), that all S2000 engines are redlined during bench test before installation into chassis. Anybody else ever hear this?

this is true. also, a handful of s2000's at toichigi are test driven at the local race track for qaulity control, so it is not unusual to see a s2000 with up to 20 miles on it, even brand new with no test drives. my MY03 had 16 miles off the truck, so it was either test driven in japan OR the guy who picked up the car from the boat in baltimore had a little fun...i hope not.

btw i have about 7800 miles on my 03, and oil consumption has really gone done. the car only burns oil under vtec operation, and that doesnt bother me since i check the oil at least once a week.

I have an 02' with 22k miles on it with no oil consumption. I drive it to V-Tech everyday with a combination of freeway and city.........mostly freeway. I've never owned a car that was this much fun to drive that made me purposely find the "farthest" 7-eleven to drive to just to grab a pack of gum!
