Has anyone found the right way to get the S2000 off the line in a hurry? The lack of torque and the S02's dont help... Any suggestions?

Rev it 'til the tach light blinks and pop the clutch, the smell is invigorating!

I usually launch at about 6k and slip the clutch. I get moderate wheelspin and according to a gtech, i only get 5.79 as a 0-60 time. I'm hoping that I can do better when it gets warmer. I'm also not sure how accurate the meter is.

Never got to go the quarter mile.

I think Sev needs to make a book on demonstrating proper launch or if we could just him to make a mpeg video demonstrating this mysterious launch technique he speaks of(that has him pulling 13.8's in the 1/4) and post it on the net somewhere.. we're set.

Launching the Stook is really easy... rev it to about 8k (more or less depending on the conditions) and drop the clutch... don't slip it, don't ease up on it. Just DROP it. This will result in massive wheelspin, but don't let off the gas. In fact, floor it as you are dropping the clutch and keep it there. You will notice that the wheelspin is accompanied by aggressive forward motion. Soon, the rear tires will gain grip and you're out of the hole as fast as possible. Just a flash later you'll be redline in first, and can make a normal shift to second. It's very repeatable.... and that's how you do sub-14 second runs and low 5-second Z-60 times. TRY IT... YOU'LL LOVE IT. Remember, you gotta drive this car like you hate it.

I find launching pretty easy in this car. Depending on the road suface I launch anywhere from 5.5-7 k RPM.

Example...on a dirty road, pop the clutch at 5.5 K. On a smooth asphalt road during the summertime...7 K!

Sev, I think in your third paragraph you meant to say modulate the gas... if you modulate the clutch, that would mean slipping the clutch!

Jason and Sev get my vote for any versus type of race with the S2000. They will represent us well.
