so I'm about to get my first car, a honda s2000. i'm wondering about something. i've never owned a 2 deater sports car. i've owned a coupe all my life and trunk space has never been a problem. now that I might venture into the world of a two seater and limited trunk space, I'm trying to figure out how this might affect my life. thinking it over, I'd imagine it might affect it pretty dramatically. can you even go grocery shopping with the trunk space the s2000 (or any sports car) provides? what about traveling? can you even fit a suit case and some small bags in it? the problem is that this car will be my ONLY car, so I will be doing everyrthing in it. leisure driving, travelling, grocery shopping, etc. what if I want to go to the airport with my girlfriend, will we both be able to get our luggage to the airport?

this may sound like a stupid concern, but it seems pretty important to me... any comments? for those of you who own ONLY a S2000, do you run into any of thes types of problems?

Doesn't sound like its the car for you. I can go grocery shopping, but forget taking someone to the airport.

This is a tough car to own if it is your only car. Not that you can't do it, but you are better off if you also have another vehicle that is better suited in the areas you mention.

How about one of those UHaul roof carriers?

Or maybe a trailer?

You would have to be ##$%ing crazy to leave a s2k at the airport, take HER car.

This car is a TOY. Not a primary car. Get something else to haul the suitcases in.

Exception: S2Kdays...Use a big duffle bag that can be shaped into the strange curves of the trunk. And dont forget a Muz trunk liner ...have the mods you buy installed there!!

Get the S2000. Grab an Auto Trader from 7-11 and buy the cheapest beater you can find. Then when you leave the beater at the Airport and some dude lets his cart roll into it it won't matter.

My sister had (actually still has) a 1990 Mariner Blue Miata. She has owned the car since new and driven it through her senior year in highschool, college, to work, etc. This is her only car.

Despite having a smaller trunk than our S2K does, she has managed. She has taken it snowboarding, moved countless times, commuted, you get the picture.

The fact of the matter is that it is absolutely feasible to have this as your only car (as long as you don't have kids since you can't put kids in the seats). You will just have to adjust your lifestyle appropriately. You will learn to use very inch of your interior as well as your trunk. You will learn to appreciate friends with SUV's and pickup trucks to help you when you move, need something from Home Depot, or throw a party.

It can be done, and in my opinion, the minor inconveniance is more life enriching than it is a pain.

Hmmm. I think you can do it but it will take a bit of getting used to. It will change your life a bit. I wouldn't consider doing many of the things you suggest but I have managed to get along fine. You learn to adapt and don't even think about it now. I managed to fit the S2000Online server shutgun but it was a tight squeeze. So you find a way.
