Don't forget, if you want new parts instead of repair, you can pay the difference.

Get new original parts. Do not settle for aftermarket or refurbished parts which the insurance company will inevitably try to force upon you. I have been through this a number of times now. You can win the fight

ima take your advice. it seems like the 2300 to replace and repaint both trunk lid and bumper was to high for her to pay out of pocket (i understand). so ima be dealing with the insurance company. ima JUST SO NO TO BONDO!!!!

bondo is not bad if used correctly. Look at the joint between the rockerpanel and the quarterpanel. welcome to OEM bondo.

maybe you can get a new style rear bumper out of it
definitely get oem parts. dont let the insurance push you around.
how big is the dent. maybe you can get the ding guys to pop it out and keep the difference in cash.

My last car was a Mercury Marauder. I was in a hit and run and the front was damaged. It was 1200.00 for a new front bumper cover so ins forced me to have it refinished. Also, to refinish the front fender would have been 700.00 a new front fender was 250.00. I wanted them to fix the fender instead of replace it because I wanted all the numbers to match. As far as looks go...both pieces looked perfect. Just make sure you get a GOOD body shop to do the work.
